And… that’s not all… we are called Ashwood Llamas for a reason, we are home to 14 llamas, 6 breeding females, 4 cria at foot (what is a cria at foot I hear a few of you ask, they are this year’s baby llamas who are still suckling from their mums and have yet to be weaned), 3 young males & our stud male Pepsi.
If you want to get up close and personal with our llamas, then we can offer you the following:-
- Why not join us at feeding time, either morning or afternoon or both!
- During the week feeding times in the moring are at 8am, but at weekends we all deserve a lie in and we start at 9am
- Afternoon feeding starts at 3.30pm!
- For an additional cost, on any day you can help Vicki halter one of our llamas and groom them. Clara in particular loves the attention as do a couple of our lads, Wilbur & Pepsi! Vicki will also show you how she trains the cria at foot as she teaches them to be haltered. We would normally do this at around 2.30pm, just before feeding time.
- For an additional cost, at weekends you can also join us for an hour or so as we halter up two of the boys and take them for a short walk up the lanes as we acclimatise them to regular haltering and walking as we build them up to their new jobs next summer!
Joining us at feeding time is all part of the deal, but if you wish to be part of Vicki’s grooming and cria training session a small charge of £10 is made! If you wish to join us for the walking training for the boys there is also an additional charge of £10! Please ensure that you let us know when booking if you wish to take part, although there is no obligation as weather and conditions on the day may make you change your mind!
