We started with just 2 llamas in 2005-ish – field pets really – and in 2010 we decided to start breeding seriously and we now have six breeding females with a few youngsters that will soon be of an age to start breeding.
Roll-call for our girls – we have :-
- Lima, one of our first 2 llamas and she has bred Cusco, Nazca & Tallara so far – she was born in 2002 and is from Roseland stock!
- Clara, a really friendly laid back llama, born in 2004 and was brought in from Watertown llamas & has so far bred us Princess, our first youngster of 2011
- Bella & Katie, sisters, born in 2002/2001 respectively joined us in 2010 from Llamalland in Cornwall
- Willow, also from Llamalland is our youngest breeding female born in 2008 and has given us both Wispa & Cola
- Evelyn came with Eclair as a cria at foot from Llamalland as well, and so far has not provided us with any cria – Evelyn is the oldest of our girls born in 2001
We have just one stud at present – Pepsi, born in 1999 – but Nazca, our own bred 2009 youngster is our rising stud and all being well will be put to “work” in 2012.
We also have a few boy llamas that are being trained up to be our “trekkers” – we have Wilbur, Cusco & Buster and all of them are halter trained and enjoy the occasional amble down the country lanes!
The herd is completed by a few yearlings and cria, some for sale and some not!
